ISSUES
We must plan for growth proactively, ensuring that new development complements our existing community, protects our natural beauty, and maintains the quality of life that drew us all to this valley. This means smart zoning, respecting individual property rights, protecting open spaces, and supporting local businesses that reflect our town's identity.
Much of our valley currently relies on individual wells and septic systems, reflecting our rural heritage. As our new city grows, we must thoughtfully plan for the foundational infrastructure we'll need for the future, including reliable energy, clean water, and effective wastewater systems, well-maintained roads, and modern communication networks. As your council member, I will lead with a careful, community-driven, and financially responsible approach, prioritizing transparent communication, broad community input, and innovative solutions that respect our rural character.
As a new city, we have a unique opportunity to set the standard for fiscal responsibility. I am committed to transparent budgeting, prioritizing essential services, and ensuring every tax dollar is invested wisely to build a resilient and prosperous future for all residents.
The safety and well-being of our residents is non-negotiable. I will work to negotiate effective and community-oriented public safety services contracts, including police, fire, and EMS, ensuring they are adequately staffed, trained, and equipped to serve our growing population. As your council member, I will prioritize securing agreements that deliver the highest quality services, ensure clear accountability, and maximize every tax dollar spent. This commitment guarantees our community receives tailored, efficient, and cost-effective services that meet our unique needs.
I believe our economic development efforts must prioritize preserving our unique small-town character. I will champion initiatives that support and grow our existing local businesses, attract compatible new businesses that align with our community's values, and foster a local economy that provides essential goods and services while enhancing, not detracting from, our cities charm and quality of life.
Our city’s strength lies with its people, and their active involvement is essential for our success. I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every resident feels heard and can actively participate in shaping our future through accessible town halls, online platforms, and community advisory groups.
I believe the city council should initiate the process for adopting a comprehensive City Charter, which would serve as our town's foundational document – its very constitution. This process typically involves a charter commission and ultimately voter approval, ensuring that the Charter will establish principles and a framework for all governmental processes, from public forums to decision-making, to be transparent and accessible, empowering residents to be true partners in our town's governance. Beyond essential services, a great city offers a high quality of life. I will prioritize developing and maintaining parks, recreational facilities, and green spaces that enhance our community's beauty and provide opportunities for leisure and connection.
While we grow, we must never lose sight of what makes our city special. I will champion policies that protect our valley’s agricultural roots and “small-town” character and foster a strong sense of community pride.
As a newly incorporated city, establishing an efficient, transparent and responsive local government is crucial. I will work to ensure our city government operates effectively, providing excellent customer service and quickly addressing the needs and concerns of our residents.
